Anthony Wickham (50), Managing Director of TT Tents, is based in Hamphire, and is married to Georgi with a daughter Adelaide (14).   After a stint in the Royal Fleet Auxillary, Anthony attended Cirencster before becoming involved in the marquee industry in 1985.  The family enjoy summer holidays in South Cornwall where they have a cottage and a Cornish Shrimper “Egret”.   

Crew

Anthony and Georgi have both completed their Advanced Powerboat course in preparation for the trip and will be sharing the helming of “ConTTentment”.    When at home, Georgi fulfils the role of Hunt Secretary for the local hunt, the Tedworth, as well as teaching piano.  Whilst not such an experienced sailor as Anthony, Georgi grew up near the sea in Australia,  and enjoys  boats and swimming, and is also a keen kayaker.

Charity

In August 2009, Georgi’s father James was diagnosed with Alzheimers.  Since his diagnosis, James has benefited from the latest developments in Dementia care, incorporating the principals of the “Eden” philosophy of care for the elderly which seeks provide a sense of companionship, purpose, variety and spontaneity in the day to day life of the elderly, plus the trial introduction of the Ashby Memory Method.   The Ashby Memory Method (AMM) program is a program of thinking and activity focused exercises that helps those already experiencing memory loss and early to moderate Alzheimer’s disease manage their symptoms better for longer.   Developments such as these which are so beneficial to the lives of  patients with dementia and their carers, are the result of years of research, education and training.   Anthony and Georgi would like to support these new innovations by raising much needed funds so that this philosophy and approach to dementia care  be developed and adopted worldwide. .  The centre which James attends, Hawthorn House in Albany, Western Australia, is now recognised around the world as an exceptional community for caring for people with dementia.  Hawthorn House is aiming to develop its ability to showcase the best-practice model of relationship-based care not only for the benefit of its own community, but for dementia sufferers around the world.
